On Saturday 19th May, two cadets and a cadet Sergeant from 231 (Norwich) Squadron went to an RAF Association reunion and memorial. The event took place in Haveringland in a cottage close to the memorial. The attendees from 231 Squadron were Cadet Sturgeon, Cadet Murray, Sergeant Aldous, Sergeant Stapleton RAFAC and Sergeant Ramskill RAFAC. Other attendees included former members of the RAF and their families and friends. The event started with the cadets from 231 (Norwich) Squadron meeting and talking to veterans. A two-minute silence was held in remembrance for those who fought in World War Two. At the end, the cadets got to enjoy a fly past. Cadet Sturgeon said, “My favourite part of the day was when we got to speak to Arthur, who was a veteran of World War II and also knew and used Morse code.” The cadets from 231 (Norwich) Squadron got to learn a lot about what it was like in World War II from people who actually served in the RAF.
